Simchat Torah – Rejoicing in the Torah
Friday 25th October Time: 18h15 - 20h30
Speaker: Rabbi Bruce Coeh, Beth El. Manhattan
On Simchat Torah, we conclude reading the final reading from the Book of Deuteronomy, and, after rolling the scroll back to the beginning, we commence a new cycle by reading from Genesis, chapter one.
We sing songs of rejoicing as we dance in a circle while carrying the Torah Scroll. The service will be followed by a bring ‘n share supper (savoury (not sweet, except cheesecake, of course). ‘Milchik’ – milk i.e. no meat products.
